Empowering Action: Sendai’s Business Creation Program Combines Site Visits and Dialogue for DRR Solutions

The Sendai BOSAI-TECH Future Awards, held from September to December 2024, was a program aimed at deeply understanding challenges in disaster prevention sites and creating solutions better matched to on-site needs.
We held a “Site Inspection Tour” where participants actually visited disaster prevention sites to experience and discover challenges firsthand.
Participants visited facilities not normally accessible to the public and received direct explanations from Sendai City disaster prevention officials at each location.
Later, a “Workshop” was held where participants delved deeper into the challenges, brainstormed solutions, and through group work, examined why the challenges arose and how to implement ideas to solve them.
The exchange of opinions and information within groups, fostering diverse perspectives, provided participants with valuable opportunities for new insights.
